Faculties and campus

The Faculty of Business Economics is the home of everything English at University Vitez. It teaches economic theory and policy, entrepreneurship and management, finance, accounting and auditing, marketing and business informatics, and it runs the International Business Administration programme with Circle International at MBA and PhD level. The acting dean is Prof. Hasan Mahmutović, and the rector of the university, Prof. Jamila Jaganjac, teaches in the field of entrepreneurship and management.
Students here do more than attend lectures. The faculty runs an entrepreneurial incubator with a yearly competition for the best business plan. Since 2016 it has organised SKEI, a student conference where students present research and publish together with their professors. Study visits, conferences and Erasmus+ exchanges complete the picture.

The Faculty of Information Technologies trains specialists who develop, maintain and improve complex information systems. Its curricula are aligned with established European IT faculties, and the faculty is led by acting dean Prof. Muhamed Ćosić. Programmes cover Information Technologies, Business Informatics and Software Engineering at bachelor level, and Cybersecurity has joined the master offer next to Information Technologies and Business Informatics.
For students of the English MBA this faculty matters too. The MBA module Management of Information Technology draws on its teaching staff, and business informatics links the IT and economics faculties closely.

The Faculty of Health Studies educates nurses, physiotherapists and occupational therapists, sanitary engineers and cosmetologists with an interdisciplinary approach. It is led by Dean Prof. Lejla Čalkić. Teaching staff are grouped by field, from nursing and physiotherapy to public health and environmental health.
Practical training is close at hand. In October 2026 representatives of the faculty visited the Reumal spa and rehabilitation centre in Fojnica, about 45 km from Travnik, and cosmetology students took part in an educational workshop with an industry partner. These links give health students placements in real clinical and rehabilitation settings.

The Faculty of Law, led by Dean Prof. Goran Šimić, offers General Law in all three cycles and a bachelor programme in Security and Criminalistics. Its staff cover criminal law, civil law, public and international law, Roman law and legal history, and finance law. The faculty publishes a yearbook of its activities and aligns its curricula with established European law faculties.
The university library holds the textbook collection, donated books and an archive of bachelor and master theses and doctoral dissertations. It is a full member of the COBISS network and is open every day from 08:00 to 16:00. The Institute of University Vitez runs research projects and a Centre for Lifelong Learning, and the university publishes three academic journals. The International Office, headed by Dr Admir Vranić, manages Erasmus+ mobility and the partner network.

Travnik is one of the more affordable towns in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Typical monthly costs for a student:
In total that comes to roughly €400 to 550 a month.
Our estimate: if you spend the full two years of the International MBA living in Travnik, your living costs add up to about €9,600 to 13,200 (€400 to 550 × 12 months × 2 years). For the three-year PhD the figure is about €14,400 to 19,800. Add the tuition, which University Vitez confirms on request, for your total budget. Studying online from home removes the living costs in Bosnia completely, which makes this one of the most budget-friendly ways to earn an English-taught MBA in the region.
City and student life
Travnik is a compact historic town of about 53,000 people in the Lašva valley, roughly 90 km northwest of Sarajevo. For almost 150 years it was the seat of the Ottoman viziers of Bosnia. The old fortress above the centre, the painted Coloured Mosque, the old clock towers and the birthplace of Nobel laureate Ivo Andrić all lie within a short walk of each other. It is a town you learn by foot.
University Vitez sits at Školska 23 in Travnik. Most students live in the central streets around the main road through the valley or in the quieter residential areas on the slopes, which keeps everyday distances short. We usually advise students to look for a room in the centre, because shops, the bus station and the university are then all within walking distance and you do not need a car. Vitez, where the university has its legal seat, is 15 km east and easy to reach by regular bus.
Travnik has no tram, but intercity buses connect it well. Sarajevo is about an hour and a half by car or a little longer by bus, and Sarajevo International Airport is the nearest airport. Zagreb and Belgrade are each about five hours by road, and the Adriatic coast near Split is about three and a half hours away. Compared with Sarajevo, Travnik is calmer and noticeably cheaper, while the capital and its universities remain close enough for a day trip.
The climate is continental, at about 514 m above sea level. Summers are warm and dry with 25 to 28 °C, winters are cold with snow. That snow is good news for skiers. Vlašić mountain with the Babanovac ski area is about 25 km from town, and in summer the same slopes are popular for hiking, paragliding and mountain biking.
Food is simple and inexpensive. Travnik is known across the country for its ćevapi and its white Vlašić cheese, and a full lunch in a local restaurant costs around €5 to 8. The Plava voda spring below the fortress, with its cafés and the cold mountain stream, is the favourite meeting point in summer. Travnik is safe and friendly, people are used to visitors, and English is widely understood among younger residents.
Our local office in Bosnia stays in touch after you arrive. We help with your residence registration, a local SIM card and questions about your flat, so you can settle in during the first week.
