The University of Business Studies Banja Luka, known as UPS after its local name Univerzitet za poslovne studije, is a private university in Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina. It was founded in 2006 and is based on Jovana Dučića street.
UPS is built around business. Its faculties cover business and financial studies, applied economics, tourism and hotel management, legal sciences, information technology and design, journalism and communication, and ecology. That gives you a solid choice if you want to study business in Bosnia, study law in Bosnia or study IT in Bosnia, or if you see your future in tourism and hospitality.
Teaching is in Serbian. UPS offers bachelor and master studies. International students who do not yet speak the language can join after a preparatory course, which we help you organise.
Many programmes are designed with the regional labour market in mind, from banking to hotels. To compare UPS with other universities in Bosnia, see all universities in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The faculties share one campus, so you can meet students from law, IT and tourism in the same building and pick electives across fields when your programme allows it.

City and student life
Banja Luka is a calm, green city of about 185,000 people on the Vrbas river. Cafés line the pedestrian streets, the riverbanks fill up on summer evenings, and the centre is easy to get to know within days.
UPS is on Jovana Dučića 23a, close to the city centre, so walking or a short bus ride is enough. City buses cover all districts. Banja Luka International Airport is about 25 km north; Zagreb is about 3 hours by road, Sarajevo 4 and Belgrade 4.5.
The climate is continental: warm summers, cold winters. Living costs for international students are around €450 to 650 per month. If you study tourism, you will find the region interesting: spa towns, the Vrbas canyon, rafting and mountain areas are all within reach for field trips.
For accommodation we suggest a room in a shared flat in the centre or in a nearby district, which saves you travel time. Get a written contract, because you need it for the residence permit. We look at offers with you. If you are still abroad, our local office in Bosnia can view rooms for you and send photos, so you do not need an extra trip before the semester. Plan to arrive one or two weeks early: registering your address and applying for the residence permit take a few visits to the authorities.
Other universities in Banja Luka you might compare: the University of Banja Luka, the Pan-European University Apeiron and Banja Luka College.
