About the university

Overview

Slobomir P University is a private university in north-eastern Bosnia and Herzegovina. Its story began in 2003, which makes it one of the first private universities in the country. The main campus is in Slobomir, a purpose-built university town on the Drina river near Bijeljina, and a second campus operates in Doboj, the railway hub of northern Bosnia.

The university is organised in faculties for economics and management, law, information technologies, philology, and security and protection, plus an Academy of Arts and a Tax Academy. For you this means several clear routes: study business in Bosnia, study law in Bosnia, study IT in Bosnia, or take a language and literature degree. Programmes lead to a bachelor and a master degree.

Teaching at Slobomir P University is in Serbian. International students therefore need the language before they start lectures. If you come from the region you probably have it already; if not, we organise a preparatory language course so you can follow lectures and exams without stress.

Tuition fees are available on request, and living costs in Doboj and around Bijeljina are low. Study in Bosnia supports you with document recognition, the application, the student visa, the residence permit and accommodation. City and student life

Living and studying here

Doboj is a town of about 70,000 people in northern Bosnia and Herzegovina, on the Bosna river. It grew up as a crossroads, and today it is still the main railway junction of the country's north. Above the town stands the medieval Gradina fortress, a nice place for an evening walk with a view over the river valley.

Slobomir P University runs a campus in Doboj, while its main campus is in Slobomir, a small university town built on the Drina river right next to Bijeljina and the border with Serbia. Which campus you attend depends on your programme, and we tell you before you apply. Buses connect Doboj with Tuzla, Banja Luka and Sarajevo, and Tuzla International Airport is about an hour away.

The climate is continental: hot summers, cold winters and pleasant springs. Prices are low. A coffee costs around €1, lunch in a local restaurant €5 to €7. Doboj and Bijeljina are calm towns, and students tell us they feel safe walking home in the evening.

For nature, you have the Bosna and Drina rivers, the hills of Ozren near Doboj and Majevica near Bijeljina. Students in Bijeljina can also meet peers from Sinergija University and University of Bijeljina, and Tuzla with the University of Tuzla is a short trip away.

Our advice for accommodation: take a room in a shared flat close to your campus for the first semester, then decide whether you want a studio. We arrange viewings, check the rental contract and make sure your address works for the residence permit.
