About the university
Pan-European University Apeiron is one of the largest private universities in the Republic of Srpska. It was founded in 2005 and has its main building on Vojvode Pere Krece in Banja Luka, the second largest city in Bosnia and Herzegovina. If you want to study in Bosnia at a private university with a wide choice of subjects, Apeiron is one of the first names you will meet.
The university runs seven faculties: health sciences, information technology, business economics, law, philology, sport sciences and traffic engineering, with pharmacy listed alongside them. That makes it a fit if you want to study IT in Bosnia, study business in Bosnia or study law in Bosnia, and also for nursing, physiotherapy and laboratory work.
Teaching is in Serbian. Apeiron offers bachelor, master and PhD studies, and parts of the teaching run through its own distance learning system with recorded lectures and online classes. For international students who are still learning the language, we help you arrange a language course before and during the first year.

City and student life
Banja Luka is a green, relaxed city on the Vrbas river with about 185,000 people. It is the administrative centre of the Republic of Srpska, so you find shops, hospitals, cafés and offices in walking distance of each other. Many international students are surprised by how calm it feels compared with Sarajevo.
Pan-European University Apeiron sits on Vojvode Pere Krece, a short bus ride from the city centre. City buses cover most districts, and taxis are cheap. Banja Luka International Airport lies about 25 km north; Zagreb is roughly 3 hours by road, Sarajevo about 4 and Belgrade about 4.5.
The climate is continental: warm summers, cold winters with some snow. Prices are low by European standards. A coffee costs around €1 to 1.50, and living costs of €450 to 650 per month cover rent, food and transport for most students. The city is considered safe, and the Vrbas canyon, rafting spots and hiking trails start right outside town.
For accommodation we advise a room in a shared flat near the centre or along the bus lines to the campus. Sign a written contract, keep it for your residence permit, and look at the flat before you pay a deposit. We help you check offers.
Other options in the same city include the University of Banja Luka, Banja Luka College and the University of Business Studies Banja Luka.
